Entry-level models get the smaller, standard 58.0-kWh battery with 201 horsepower. Models equipped with all-wheel drive with the new, larger 82.0-kWh battery achieve 330 hp and can tow a maximum of 2,500 pounds. Standard trim buyers get the smaller battery and rear-wheel drive, but those interested in other trims can choose between the rear-wheel drive and the larger battery.
Models with the dual-battery and all-wheel drive combination have sharper acceleration. All ID.4 models have a refined ride quality and a quiet cabin. The larger battery is also expected to increase the ID.4's range.
Technology & Safety Features
Upper trim levels get a larger 12.9 infotainment screen with a revised menu structure and simpler climate controls. Navigation is standard, as is wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Owners will also get a 5.3-inch reconfigurable digital gauge display and voice-recognition capability.
The IQ.Drive advanced driver assistance technology is Volkswagen's standard suite of safety aids. It includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert, dynamic road sign display, forward collision warning and emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, parking assist, travel assist, lane assist, and emergency assist.
Interior Features
Stamford buyers will see a redesigned cabin with new steering wheel and shifter designs. Cooled front seats are now standard across all trims. The back seats split 60/40 and fold easily to expand cargo space.
Exterior Features
Volkswagen has rolled out new wheel designs for the current model year and increased the size of most models from 19 inches to 20 inches. S-Plus models will get 21-inch machined alloy wheels. All ID.4 models get roof rails.
