Serving Stamford, Norwalk, and Westport, CT

Are you looking for a vehicle that fits the needs of a growing family without having to sacrifice performance, style, or breaking the budget? Maybe you no longer need a luxury SUV, but you don’t want to lose the cargo space you expect. Or perhaps you’ve grown to prefer the raised seating you would lose by purchasing a sedan? You need a crossover!

What is a crossover? Crossovers are vehicles designed with a combination of the best features of an SUV and a passenger car. The 2017 and 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan models are crossover vehicles that will impress buyers in all walks of life.

Performance

The 2017 Tiguan comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. The new 2018 Tiguan’s engine has 184 hp, but the engine can produce 221 lb-ft of torque to improve acceleration. Both models can go from 0-60 in 7.7 seconds. The 2017 has a 6-speed automatic shiftable transmission while the 2018 boasts an 8-speed automatic with a manual shifting mode. The 8-speed transmission in the 2018 model provides better fuel economy and faster shift times. Both the 2017 and 2018 Tiguan have adaptive cruise control and offer stop-and-go traffic assist.

Appearance

The 2018 Tiguan has been redesigned from the inside out, complete with a variety of new color choices. The upgraded lines are elegant and stylish, without losing a sense of ruggedness. When you see it next to its predecessor, you will notice that it is a full 10.7 inches longer. The longer wheelbase allows room for a third seat that is standard in the front wheel drive version and an option in the AWD models. The cargo capacity has increased 57% over last year’s model allowing for all of your family’s gear, and the new power liftgate will make it easier to get the gear in the vehicle! Both models boast a panoramic sunroof to enjoy those beautiful summer days.

Volkswagen modernized the interior of the next generation Tiguan with sharp and precise lines. There are decorative elements in the door panel and a sturdy handle to heighten the style. Both models have a touchscreen and a leather-wrapped, multifunction steering wheel. Your passengers will have more legroom in the second row in the 2018 Tiguan, and the third row of seating, which is standard in the front wheel drive model, will make it possible to carry seven people.

Safety

The Tiguan has a four-star safety rating with features that include anti-lock disc brakes, traction stability control, front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rearview camera and Daytime running lights. The 2018 model also offers optional features such as pedestrian monitoring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, and lane departure warning.

Whether you prefer a compact crossover vehicle, or you need a larger version, drop by your local Volkswagen dealer in Stamford, CT and take a test drive in a Tiguan. One of them will be sure to meet your needs.
