Exterior

The 2016 VW Passat adds bold shapes and lines, primarily in the front and rear end to produce an appealing exterior. The hood's contour follows the wrap around bumper with a dynamic new grill. The spoiler a strong composition creating a radically different look in the 2016 Passat. New tail lights fan up a bit lending motion to the redesigned rear. The overhang of the trunk maintains a subtle, hidden place behind the car, until you come all the way around to the back. In comparison, the lines of the Accord look ready to pounce, while the Passat looks ready to soar. The classier appearance of the Passat should appeal to more shoppers.

Technology Package

Subtle changes include new instrument cluster that sets the tone for the updated technology package in the 2016 VW Passat. The touch screen five-inch LCD screen offers navigation, rear-view camera and more. The radio data system identifies the song and singer on the display. 2016 Passat optional packages also include Bluetooth® wireless phone, 1st row LCD monitors, AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio and six speakers bring the sound home. Steering wheel mounted audio controls put the buttons where they belong, with the driver. The tone of the Honda Accord technology package is set by the touchscreen interface that critics say is inconsistent.

Safety

The Passat comes packed with safety technology, starting with traction control, brake assist, ABS brakes, electronic stability and more. The dual front side impact airbags joined by dual front side impact airbags, an overhead airbag and occupant sensing airbags make the car interior safe. Four wheel disc brakes promises to give the driver even more control over the vehicle in short stopping situations. The Honda collision warning system reportedly responds to far too many road objects, making for a confusing experience. According to critics, the performance of the Honda adaptive cruise control, a control designed to slow down the vehicle with the flow of traffic and speed up with the loosening of traffic, is less than stellar.
